about

I wrote this song after learning more about some pretty amazing folks in this world.
Bayard Rustin - a queer, black, communist activist in the 60's. He organized the march on washington where Martin Luther King JR. gave his famous "I have a dream" speach, among other amazing accomplishments.
Elaine Brown - One of the only female leaders in the Black Panther party. Her story is amazing, and her autobiography is called "A Taste Of Power," hence the song title.
The Warner Creek loggin protests of 1995-96 - The longest blockade of a forest road in history. The folks there built a huge camp in the road, and lived in the trees to slow down the illegal logging.
